Who we are
Cashiar is a point of sale and business app made by HOGANAM LTD, a company registered in Ghana. This policy covers the website www.cashiar.app, the Cashiar app and the services behind them.
For your account and your shop's details, we decide how the data is used. For the data a shop keeps about its own customers, suppliers and staff, the shop decides, and we hold it for them.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we get your name and email from them.
- Your business: its name, kind, address, phone number, logo, tax number, branches and payout account.
- What you enter to run the shop: products, stock, prices, sales, refunds, expenses, suppliers, bookings and shifts.
- Your customers and staff: the names, phone numbers and email addresses you add, what customers bought and what they owe, and who made each sale.
- Payments: the amount, the method, the network and the reference. Paystack handles card and mobile money details; we do not see or keep card numbers or PINs.
- Ask Cashiar: the questions you type or say, and the answers.
- Your device and use: your IP address, browser, the pages you open and errors the app runs into.
Why we use it
- To run the app: make sales, keep stock right, take payments and show your reports.
- To keep your account safe: sign you in, send your sign-in code and stop misuse.
- To send the receipts, order updates and messages you ask the app to send.
- To answer questions in Ask Cashiar.
- To fix problems and make Cashiar better.
- To meet the law, such as tax and accounting rules.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only with the companies that help us run Cashiar, and only what each one needs:
- Railway: hosts the app, its database and the photos you upload.
- Paystack: takes card and mobile money payments and pays your shop out.
- Meta (WhatsApp) and Arkesel (SMS): send the messages your shop sends to customers.
- Resend: sends our emails, such as sign-in codes.
- OpenAI: answers Ask Cashiar questions and turns voice into text and back.
- Sentry: tells us when the app runs into an error.
We also share data when the law requires it, or to protect people from harm or fraud.
Where it is kept
Some of these companies keep data outside Ghana. When data leaves Ghana, we only send it to companies that protect it as this policy does.
So the till keeps selling without internet, the app keeps a copy of your shop's data in the browser on each device it is used on. Lock your devices and sign out of ones you no longer use.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you close it, we delete it or remove what identifies people, except what the law makes us keep, such as sales records for tax.
How we protect it
Data travels encrypted between your device and our servers. Each person signs in to their own account, and roles decide what staff can see and change. A shop's data is only shown to that shop's team.
Your rights
Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or stop us using it for a purpose. Write to privacy@cashiar.app. If a shop keeps your data as its customer, you can also ask the shop.
If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies to track you. The app uses a cookie to keep you signed in.
Children
Cashiar is for businesses. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change matters, we tell account owners by email or in the app first.
